New Feature: History & Transcript

We are happy to introduce new features in the chat history module.
Now it is easier to search, sort and export the archive (chat history)

To see the changes you need to login to your admin panel and open the chat settings.

So whats new?

Export Chat Transcript

Now, when you want to export your chat history transcript based on criteria, you have now two options,  CSV or as HTML. This lets users export the chat transcript and open the chat history in excel or as HTML.

When exporting to HTML it is easy to add the chat transcript (e.g content) to any website and by doing that to increase relevant keywords SEO  (chat transcript that was done on your website, consist of highly targeted keywords).

Sorting Chat Options

You can now sort the history in the admin panel to better access to your data.
Sorting is done by simply clicking on one of the 3 fields.

  • Time
  • User Name
  • Texy

Quick Search

Technology: with a new technology added to the admin panel to the archive section, we added some load distribution between back-end and front-end that makes searches even quicker.

Note, history is available only for group chat, private chats cannot be exported (legal reasons).

How to Save a Group Chat Transcript …or Not

True to our mission, we’ve even designed our chat transcript saving options to be versatile.

There are two settings that affect your group chat archive and how you and your users access that chat transcript. Depending on whether you want your full conversation available at all times, saved for later, or not at all, you’ll want to ensure your settings match your preferences.

Once you are logged into the Admin Panel, navigate to the Archive tab under Settings. There you’ll see two options.

  1. Enable archiving
  2. Show archived messages in the chat

This post will explain the effect of each combination of selecting these options. For more information on why or how to export chat transcripts, click here.

If you select both

Save chat transcript history and show in chatSelecting both options will allow the group chat owner and users to see and export the full chat transcript.

From within the group chat window, any user will be able to scroll up to see the chat transcript.

For a user, the export option within the group chat room will only export those messages currently in the window. However, from the admin panel, the group chat owner can export the entire chat history saved on the RumbleTalk servers.

Data saved on the RumbleTalk servers is stored for three months.

If you select only “Enable archiving”

Yes and no for saving the transcript

In this scenario, the full chat history, saved on RumbleTalk’s servers, will only be accessible to the group chat owner from the admin panel. Again, this archive goes back three months.

Group chat users will not be able to see messages that were sent before they entered the group chat room.

If you select only “show archived messages in the chat”

This will prevent the group chat owner from being able to see or export the group chat archive from the admin panel and messages will not be saved on the RumbleTalk servers.

Users will still be able to export the conversation existing in the window post-login. When all users have logged out, the conversation will no longer be available.

No archive

If neither option is selected, the conversation will not be saved on the RumbleTalk servers, and users will not be able to see the messages sent prior to their login.

Up to 50 messages sent post-login will be available within the group chat window. It is still possible to export these from the within group chat window unless modified using CSS.

We sometimes observe how customers are using RumbleTalk chatroom. Lately we see more customers using the chat room to generate content for their websites.

Lets explain what it means. The best thing that help making your website a no.1 website in search engines, is content, preferably your own generated content.

Export your chat room content

The content you write will be read by Google and will give your website some points.

If you do it constantly, Google will show your website higher in searches and thus will send more traffic to your website.

 

This may happen only when you have good content for your product in your
website (e.g, relevant content).

Now, what is more relevant than users talking about your product in a chatroom. Their content is highly related to the service, they discuss the product, service or article.

This content is pure gold for you as a webmaster. You can export the conversation into your HTML and add it to your website simply by copy&paste.

It is dead simple to do set it up. Just login into your admin panel, go to the “Archive” option, than select what messages you wish to export and click “Export”.

That is it, your are done !
